Italian restaurant Alba to open in Knightsbridge

A restaurant that promises to bring a taste of the Amalfi coast to Knightsbridge will open next month.

Alba will be located on Brompton Road close to Harrods

The restaurant will have an open kitchen and a seafood display of produce including lobster and langoustine, sea urchin, king crab and various fish and will serve a seasonally-changing menu.

Dishes will include Amalfi staples, such as Risotto con gamberi and lemon; and Sicilian Gamberi Rossi di Mazara as well as those from other regions of Italy, including Piedmont, with paccheri with white Alba truffle,

Alba’s wine cellar will offer a selection of verticals of Masseto, Dom Pérignon, Romanée-Conti DCR and Château d’Yquem bottles, including a Château d’Yquem 6 litres Imperial 1991 available by the glass. There will also be a range of cocktails at the restaurant’s gilded bar, including modern riffs on the classics, such as the Negroni and spritz.

The interior has been designed to ‘bring the sights and sounds of southern Italy to life’, with a colour palette is all olive green, coral pinks, lemon yellows and terracotta. It will feature real citrus trees and a handmade Venetian floor and use furniture from luxury design house Exteta, which specialises in yachts, to create a maritime feel. There will be tableware from Ginori, the Florentine porcelain house founded in 1735.
