Michelin-starred Tyne Valley restaurant Hjem is to host a nine week pop up at Fenwick Newcastle.

Launching on 31 May and running until 4 August, Hjem at Fenwick will follow the approach of the restaurant in showcasing seasonal Northumbrian produce prepared using traditional Scandinavian cooking techniques.

Signature dishes from the restaurant will be available to order alongside additions created exclusively for Fenwick, with the pop up marking the first time Hjem will offer an à la carte menu as well as a daily-changing tasting menu.

Options will include gougeres filled with Doddington cheese cream; fried chicken with Kewpie mayo; and chicken liver parfait with brioche and Pedro Ximenez syrup.

Desserts will range from freshly cooked doughnuts served with a semi-fredo of espresso; to a waffle sandwich covered with miso caramel.

“Hjem and [Fenwick] share a lot of values, most notably quality of produce and the highest standards of service,” says Alex Nietosvuori, who launched the restaurant with his partner, Ally Thompson-Nietosvuori, within The Hadrian Hotel in the village of Wall back in 2019.

“Hjem is a small family business in a secluded part of the region, the residency is an opportunity to marry our matching values and bring our corner of Northumberland to central Newcastle.”

Hjem is currently ranked at number 63 on the National Restaurant Awards top 100 list.
