Gordon Ramsay Restaurants has taken on the former Haugen site in Stratford for the opening of another Bread Street Kitchen & Bar.

The group has signed the lease on the 10,000sq ft Pavilion building at Lendlease’s Stratford Cross for its sixth London outpost of its Bread Street Kitchen & Bar brand, with the restaurant set to open on 3 June.

The restaurant will occupy all three levels of the Pavilion and have a number of dining areas alongside a community workspace within the ground floor café. It will also have a 3,000sq ft rooftop bar for al-fresco dining with views across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and on the ground floor there will be an additional 30-seater outside terrace.

“The bold vision for Stratford Cross is what initially attracted Gordon and I to the destination,” says Andy Wenlock, CEO of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants.

“Spending time within its energetic, creative neighbourhood and inclusive community, there is no doubt it is an ideal home for us. The jewel in Stratford Cross’ crown is certainly the Pavilion building, creating a striking location for a brand-new flagship Bread Street Kitchen & Bar.”

The Pavilion building was previously home to D&D London’s Alpine-inspired restaurant Haugen, which opened in October 2021 but closed in 2023.

“The Pavilion is the landmark building for Stratford, in the heart of a neighbourhood that has fast become a cultural and creative hub for London. We knew how important it would be to enliven such an iconic building, and secured Gordon Ramsay following a surrender of the former D&D lease,” says Guy Thomas, head of retail and place assets at Lendlease.

“With the Everyman Cinema joining later this year, and the Turing Building launching in the coming months, a multi-dimensional F&B offer from Gordon Ramsay Restaurants gives Stratford Cross exactly what it needs to support a growing community of residents, workers, and visitors.”

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants is continuing to expand its Bread Street Kitchen brand, which takes its name from the street on which it launched in One New Change in St Paul's  in 2011. Earlier this month the group announced that it will open a Bread Street Kitchen & Bar by Gordon Ramsay on floor 59 of 22 Bishopsgate, which will be one of five Ramsay run locations at the building.

It also operates Bread Street Kitchens in Southwark, South Place in The City, Battersea, Edinburgh, and Liverpool in the UK and further sites in Hainan in China, Singapore, and Bangkok.

Located at the gateway to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, Stratford Cross is a £2.4bn joint venture between Lendlease and regeneration specialist LCR.

Nash Bond, CF Commercial, and Shelley Sandzer represented Lendlease.
