Adam Bateman has been named as the new executive chef of the Pan Pacific London hotel in Shoreditch.

Bateman, who previously spent close to four years working as culinary director at the Grand hotel in Birmingham, will be responsible for all food operations across the hotel, including its Southeast Asian restaurant Straits Kitchen, standalone patisserie SHIOK!, in-room dining, and banqueting.

“We are truly delighted to welcome Adam to Pan Pacific London; his extensive experience in developing hotel F&B concepts, from fine dining to banqueting to children’s menus, means he will be a great asset to our team,” says John Kelly, hotel manager at Pan Pacific London.

“Hospitality is at the heart of everything we do at Pan Pacific London, and I’m thrilled Adam shares our passion for delivering stellar F&B experiences to our guests.”

Bateman’s career has been primarily focused in hotels. He started out as head chef at Mallory Court, part of the Eden Hotel Collection, and later went on to work as group executive chef for The Hotel Collection.

He joined The Grand Hotel in Birmingham ahead of its launch in 2020 and during his time there oversaw the opening and development of its Issac’s Restaurant and Madeline Cocktail Bar.

“I am thrilled to be returning to the capital and taking on a new challenge as Executive Chef at Pan Pacific London,” says Bateman.

“I look forward to collaborating with all chef teams across all outlets to continue to elevate the already superb culinary experiences across the hotel’s F&B outlets.”

Pan Pacific London also launched in 2020, with its food and chef operations originally overseen by Lorraine‌ ‌Sinclair, who subsequently left the hotel in 2022.

The opening team also included high-profile pastry chef Cherish Finden, who announced her departure in April 2023 to ‘focus on a new career chapter’.
