US burger giant Wendy’s is continuing its push across the UK with the opening of a string of new restaurants this year.

The company has announced its intended expansion in the north and south of England with sites due to open in locations including Wood Green with its newest franchisee, GH Burger, and in Southend-on Sea as well as a second location in Colchester.

In the north it will open sites in Middlesborough and Liverpool, which will welcome its first brick and mortar restaurant later this year following the opening of a delivery kitchen in 2023 at Gravity Max.

Wendy's will also open a franchise restaurant in Newcastle and a second restaurant in Sheffield, creating around 400 jobs in total, according to the company.

The new openings follow recent launches from the US burger giant in Derby, Guildford, Chelmsford, and Bilton.

“We’ve seen great momentum in building Wendy’s fandom in the UK, and the love and excitement for this iconic brand grows stronger with each new restaurant opening," says Michael Clarke, UK managing director.

”British consumers constantly ask, “Where’s Wendy’s opening next?” and we’re thrilled to answer the call by rapidly expanding our brand presence into new areas across the country, giving Brits more access to fresh, high-quality food that they deserve.”

”With consumers looking to access food through multiple touchpoints, Wendy’s is well positioned to offer its customers speed and convenience through channels such as delivery, takeaway and the drive-thru, in addition to dine-in."
