Opening date announced for abc kitchens at The Emory

Maybourne has confirmed that Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s new restaurant at The Emory will open officially on 4 April.

First announced last year, the restaurant will be called abc kitchens and will be the exclusive UK restaurant of Vongerichten’s trilogy from New York – abc kitchen, abcV and abc cocina - all sitting under one roof for the very first time.

The three restaurants showcase different culinary offerings - farm-to-table fare, plant-based, and Latin-inspired, respectively – but are said to share the same philosophy: ‘a passionate commitment to fresh, organic, sustainable, and ethically sourced local produce’.

Vongerichten’s cooking is characterised by eschewing the traditional use of meat stocks and creams and instead using vegetable juices, fruit essences, light broths, and herbal vinaigrettes. Highlights from the menu will include New York signatures crab toast with green chilli, dill and lemon aioli; crispy fish tacos served with aioli and cabbage-apple slaw; and char-grilled beef tenderloin served with chimichurri and lime.

Overseeing the menu will be executive head Chef Ben Boeynaems, who has worked for Gordon Ramsay and Eric Chavot, including most recently at The Beamont Hotel. Mike Walker will be restaurant general Manager after a 10-year career operating leading bars and restaurants, across the capital and further afield.

The restaurant will feature a 'wine cave' fixture as well as artworks by Damien Hirst and a private dining room seating up to 10 guests next to the heart of the kitchen with a view of the pass and dining room.

The Emory is London’s first all-suite hotel and is located in Knightsbridge next to The Berkeley, which is also operated by Maybourne, alongside top London hotels Claridge’s and The Connaught.

The new restaurant will be Vongerichten’s second London outpost joining Jean-Georges at The Connaught, which opened in 2017.

Vongerichten’s abc kitchen launched in New York in 2010.
