Near Portscatho on the South West Coastal path, the 14-bedroom New England-inspired property is listed with property agent Christie & Co for an undisclosed sum.
Currently overseen by chef Paul Green, the hotel’s restaurant is among the best known in Cornwall having held a Michelin star between 2012 and 2019.
The restaurant lost its star following the departure of chef Chris Eden, who is now behind the stove at Devon’s Gidleigh Park.
The hotel is being offered either as a going concern or for redevelopment, with the current owners having submitted plans to extend and enhance the property.
The sale includes a three-bedroom owner’s house, a landscaped garden and grounds of circa five acres that lead down to a private beach.
“It has been a tremendous experience to own and manage the Driftwood,” Paul says. “We have met some wonderful and fascinating guests and worked with some fantastic staff and suppliers. However, after 22 years, Fiona and I feel it is time to let someone else take the hotel with its amazing location to the next level.”
