Dai Pai Dong will launch on 5 October and follows the success of Lee’s four-month residency in Hockley.
Named after a term used in Hong Kong to describe a type of open-air food stall, Dai Dai Pong will serve a dishes such as BBQ szechuan lamb flatbread; soy steamed chicken with jasmine rice and lap cheong; salt and chilli chicken wings; and brownie with milk miso caramel and homemade ice cream.
Lee began his residency at Hockley in June serving a menu of Asian-inspired dishes. The menu at Dai Pai Dong will feature new dishes that he hasn't previously cooked at the venue before.
“These past four months at Hockley Social Club have been incredibly exciting,” he says.
“I’ve felt such a close connection to our guests and built a strong bond with the team. Sharing my initial Asian-inspired dishes has been a dream, and the team and I can’t wait to serve up our new Dai Pai Dong menu.”
Dai Pai Dong will open from Thursday to Sunday at the Birmingham-based food hall.
“Having Dan and his team in over the summer has been an absolute joy and the quality of what they have been producing has been one of the best offerings in the city right now," says Hockley Social Club’s Jack Brabant.
"It was an absolute no-brainer for us to offer him a permanent spot and me and the team are buzzing to see what his new menu has in store for us.”
