Neha Mishra’s upcoming Kinoya restaurant within the soon-to-relaunch Harrods Food Hall will offer a menu centred around izakaya-style dishes and ramen when it opens next month.

Announced early this year and one of a number of new international restaurant concepts set to launch at the Knightsbridge department store, Kinoya takes its name from a Japanese word that means ‘little house’ and will draw inspiration from Mishra time spent running a successful supper club from her own home in Dubai.

With a focus on sustainability and seasonality, the menu will be ‘inspired by Kinoya’s duality’.

Ramen soups will include shio paitan ramen, with slow-cooked chicken broth and dashi, served with seared chicken and drizzled mayu; and tonkotsu ramen with 12-hour pork broth, bacon katsuobushi salt, anchovy oil and torched chasu.

More casual izakaya-influenced dishes will include burnt butter scallops; wagyu tsukune; miso butter eggplant; and chicken karaage.

A ‘considered’ drinks menu will also be available, offering a selection of Japanese sake, plum wines and Japanese beers.

“My passion for Japanese food began whilst visiting the country and I’ve adored it ever since,” Mishra says. “I’m so excited to finally bring Kinoya to London, it’s a true reflection of everything I have been working on for the past few years.”

“I want Kinoya to be a place where guests feel at home and can relax with friends, embodying the true spirit of izakaya/ ramen-ya, so we’ve kept the menu reflective of this whilst ensuring we champion incredible produce.”

Born in New Delhi, the chef spent her childhood between India and the UAE but ‘found herself captivated by the culture and elegant simplicity surrounding Japanese cuisine’.

After years of studying and frequent trips to Japan, Mishra launched her six-course Japanese supper club from her home and ran it for three years before launching Kinoya in Dubai’s Onyx Tower in 2021.

Less than a year later was awarded seventh spot in North Africa and Middle East’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list and has attracted a Michelin Bib Gourmand for the past two years.

A full interview with Mishra will be published later this month.
