The owners of Liverpool-based Iberian bar and grill BoBo are opening a second venue in Wirral.

Located on the corner of Banks Road and Salisbury Avenue in West Kirby, the new BoBo will focus on the flavours of Portugal and Spain serving dishes cooked on a charcoal grill alongside sides and sharing plates inspired by other traditional Portuguese and Spanish cuisine.

Dishes will include charcoal chicken that celebrates authentic Algarvian cooking techniques and flavour made using a traditional frango piri-piri from its origin in Guia, Albufeira. Its all-day menus will also comprise items including snacks such as Gordal olives, padron peppers, charcuterie, and croquetas and larger plates of piri-piri prawns; albondigas; Spanish tortilla; pan con tomate; and bacalhau fritters alongside a selection of salads and sides.

Big grill plates, meanwhile, will include rump steak; house burger; and coal roast courgettes while pastel de nata, churros and chocolate mousse will feature as dessert options.

BoBo was launched in Liverpool by Steven Burgess and Josh Moore in 2020 and has won plaudits including being named runner up in Best Bar in the North by the Observer Food Monthly and shortlisted as Best Bar in the City Region at the Merseyside Independent Business awards.

“With BoBo in Liverpool we wanted to stand out from the crowd and be different and that’s what we are aiming for in West Kirby. BoBo in Liverpool has won a reputation for being fun and laid back but with a premium on the experience of everyone who walks through the door and delivering great service for our guests,” says Burgess.

“BoBo West Kirby will also have those elements as well as a menu that reflects our passion for Iberian cuisine, where food is akin to religion.”

The new venue will open at at 34 Banks Road in West Kirby on 17 August.
