Tortilla will open its first site in Northern Ireland this month with a venue in Belfast.

The Mexican-Californian burrito and taco brand will open a site at 9 Arthur Square, near Victoria Square Shopping Centre, on 21 July.

The new restaurant will create up to 30 new jobs.

Items on its menu include a choice of burrito, naked burrito bowl or tacos that can be customised as well as sides that include tortilla chips and sweetcorn ribs with chipotle mayo.

“We’re thrilled to finally be opening in the city of Belfast. We’ve got a fantastic location in the city centre and a passionate team who embody the values of our friendly local brand,” says Richard Morris, Tortilla CEO.

“Tortilla exists to make life better with burritos, and the response we’ve had from locals in the lead-up to opening has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Earlier this year the group reported a rise in revenue to a new record level, driven by the opening of 18 more sites.

In its annual results for the 52 weeks ended 1 January 2023, revenues rose by 20.0% to £57.7m, up from £48.1m the previous year.

Like-for-like revenue at the company was also up 16.4% against 2019 levels.
