London-based fresh pasta restaurant Bancone will open its third site next month in the Borough Yards development.

The launch, which is billed as Bancone’s ‘biggest opening yet’, will be the first since the group successfully raised more than £900,000 through an equity-based crowdfund late last year to help fuel its expansion plans.

While details on the new Borough Yards restaurant remain thin, it has been confirmed the site will feature an open kitchen with counter-top dining, as well as a mezzanine space upstairs for private dining.

Bancone executive chef Ben Waugh will oversee the menu, which will include signature dishes such as silk handkerchiefs with walnut butter and confit egg yolk; mafalde with spicy pork and nduja ragù; and cacio e pepe.

Meaning ‘counter’ in Italian, Bancone was founded by Will Ellner and David Ramsay in 2018 and was part of London's new wave pasta movement that also saw the emergence of brands including Padella and Lina Stores.

It launched its first site in Covent Garden, and followed this with an outpost in Soho.

“When we opened the doors to Bancone in Covent Garden, none of us ever thought we’d be opening our third site five years later,” says Ellner.

“With a huge following of loyal guests and maintaining exceptional hospitality for them we’ve been able to do it - and we could not be more thrilled.

“Our new site, is big, beautiful and in a fantastic location and we cannot wait to open the doors.”

Ellner told Restauraut back in November that he was aiming to open ‘a few’ Bancone restaurants this year in the capital.

Other locations understood to be under consideration for expansion include Battersea, Notting Hill, Shoreditch and The City.
