Caribbean-inspired restaurant group Turtle Bay will open its 50th UK site in August in Camden, which will also mark the brand’s first outpost in north London.

The launch of is part of a larger expansion plan for the group, which is aiming to open a total of six new restaurants in 2023.

So far this year Turtle Bay has launched sites in Blackpool and Hammersmith, the latter of which is also the group’s largest London restaurant to date, holding a total of 500 covers.

A further opening in Lincoln, in the city’s Cornhill Quarter, is planned for September.

“We are excited to continue our expansion of Turtle Bay over the summer months,” says Nick Crossley, Turtle Bay CEO.

“I frequently receive communication from guests asking for Turtle Bay to open in their city.

“We have a strong pipeline for the rest of 2023 and beyond, and we look forward to bringing our Caribbean Good Times to new towns and cities across the country.”

The first Turtle Bay opened at The Hub: MK mixed-use development in Milton Keynes back in 2010.

Turtle Bay Camden will serve the group’s new menu of Caribbean and West Indian-inspired food created by executive chef Collin Brown, which launched earlier this year.

The menu includes jerk pit dishes; brown stew chicken; and curry goat.

There are also new plant-based dishes such as the Island Brunch Bowl made with scrambled ackee, sauteed callaloo, curried chickpeas, sweet fried plantain, tomatoes, and grilled roti; and the Jamaican Run Down, a butternut squash, sweet potato and coconut stew served with rice and peas.
