A new Channel 4 series will see professional chefs compete for the chance to open a restaurant at high-profile hotel The Langham, London.

Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK from Thursday 8 June, and globally on Netflix outside the UK and Ireland later this year.

The cooking competition will be led by Michel Roux Jr, who oversees The Langham’s bars and restaurants.

It is understood that the  space in question is the hotel's Palm Court restaurant.

Roux Jr’s fellow judges on the show will be pastry expert and consultant Ravneet Gill and Rare Restaurants chef Mike Reid.

“The modern restaurant business is a dynamic and ever-evolving industry, fuelled by the exceptional talent and culinary expertise of professionals like Ravneet and Mike,” Roux Jr says.

“Their deep knowledge and innovative approaches to gastronomy bring a fresh perspective to the table. The three of us share a passion for culinary excellence and eagerly anticipate finding a potential trailblazing chef in this contest to grace the culinary scene at The Langham, London.”

Across six episodes the trio will put the chefs through ‘a range of epic challenges’ designed to test ‘the skills they’ll need to survive in the elite world of five-star dining’.
