The four month residency will launch on 1 June, running until 1 October, and see Lee serving a menu of Asian-inspired street food dishes that draws on the chef's Cantonese heritage.
They will include Hainanese chicken rice; siu mai; char siu bao; and chicken and pandan broth. Among the drinks, meanwhile, will be a Hong Kong ice milk tea.
“I’m thrilled to lay down some roots and join Hockley Social Club,” says Lee.
“Making my food as accessible as possible is important to me, so there will be a range of dishes from as little as £6 on the menu.
“The origins of my food lie in simple dishes made on the streets of Asia so to cook them at the home of street food in Birmingham is going to be a real buzz.”
Lee triumphed in the 2021 series of MasterChef: The Professionals and since then has run a series of pop ups and collaborations in and around Birmingham, partnering with the likes of fellow MasterChef winner, Stuart Deeley; and Vietnamese street food operator, Eat Vietnam.
He's previously voiced his intention to eventually open his own bricks and mortar restaurant in the city, although Restaurant understands that there are currently no firm plans in place.
