Lunar Pub Company to open ‘most ambitious site to date’ in Clapham
The Apollo Arms in Clapham will be located at 13-19 Old Town and accommodate up to 100 covers inside across a number of distinct sections including a dining room, bar, snug, and games room with TV screens.
An additional 70 covers will be available outside on the al fresco garden terrace, which marks the group’s first significant foray into offering an outdoor dining experience.
“The Apollo Arms is our most ambitious site to date, and I’m incredibly proud that we’re in a position to grow despite the challenges the industry continues to face,” says Hubert Beatson-Hird, who founded Lunar Pub Company with chef director Oliver Marlowe in 2020.
“Clapham is such a buzzy neighbourhood and I’m confident our blend of accessible, yet elevated hospitality, regular events and inviting interiors will go down a treat in the area.”
The daily-changing menus at The Apollo Arms will put the spotlight on modern British food will be overseen by Marlowe and the pub’s head chef, David Halewood.
Typical dishes will include tuna sashimi with whipped avocado; Fowley mussels with ‘nduja and cider sauce, leeks, fennel and Morteau sausage; braised feather blade with truffle mayo and triple cooked truffle and parmesan chips; and a classic baked Alaska.
“Our ethos is to offer high quality modern yet accessible gastropub dishes in our venues and The Apollo Arms will be no exception,” says Marlowe.
“Whilst our signature dishes will be present, we are developing exciting new daily-changing dishes, an innovative brunch menu and some seasonal summer specials for the garden.”
Lunar Pub Company opened its first venue, The Hunter’s Moon, in South Kensington in the autumn of 2020, and launched its second site, the Ganymede in Belgravia, a year later.
