Wendy’s is continuing its UK expansion with three new restaurants to open in the coming months.

The US burger chain will open a high street location in Lincoln as well as a shopping centre site in Wisbech in April. It will then open its second drive-thru restaurant in the UK, in Colchester, in May.

The new venues will serve Wendy’s signature items, including the Baconator, spicy chicken sandwich, and Frosty dessert. There are also options tailored to UK consumers, including the avocado chicken club and curry bean burger.

It is also introducing a meal deal in participating restaurants, which offers a spicy chicken sandwich, small fried, small drink, and four-piece chicken nuggets for £7.99.

Wendy's returned to the UK in 2021 and has since opened 30 UK locations, including 12 company-operated restaurants, two franchised locations, and 16 delivery kitchens operated in partnership with REEF Technology.

The group opened its first drive-thru in the UK at Brampton Hut in Cambridgeshirein January as part of a new franchise deal for the east of England region.

Earlier this month Wendy’s said it intended to add at least a further 15 sites to its UK estate this year to reach 45 venues.

“We’ve got the supply chain in place," said Wendy’s president and chief executive Todd Penegor. "We’re working on partners. We’ve got master franchise arrangements. We’re trying to get in place to really accelerate that growth in 2024 and beyond."
