Retro gaming bar brand NQ64 will open its second London site in Shoreditch in May.

The venue will be located on Old Street and will be the brand’s biggest to date with a capacity of up to 450. The 9,000sq ft bar will also feature a new food offering with a partner to be announced shortly.

NQ64 Shoreditch will house some new and rare games which all operate on tokens that can be purchased from the bar. All consoles within the venue are free to play.

The site will have a food offer for the first time and will also offer a drinks list of specially selected craft beers, themed cocktails, wines, spirits, and sodas.

“Shoreditch is a location we’ve really wanted to operate in for a long time, so we’re buzzing to open this site,” says Matt Robson, co-founder of NQ64.

“We aim to make our venues a place for gaming fanatics and also for those looking for a great experience on a night out. This is our biggest site yet and we hope it’ll be a great addition to the area."

Founded in 2019 in Manchester by Andy Haygarth and Matt Robson, NQ64 is a group of neon graffiti-covered venues where guests can play retro arcade games and classic consoles, accompanied by a classic hip hop playlist.

The brand has expanded across the UK with sites in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and its most recent opening in Newcastle.

In August last year the group received £2.5m in growth capital to help it expand across the UK. It is now targeting cities including Leeds, Bristol, Bath, Nottingham, Reading, Belfast, Sheffield, Aberdeen, and Brighton as well as looking to open further London sites, with venues of between 4,000 and 10,000sq ft being sought after.
