Chef and restaurateur Andy Sheridan will open a second site of his Black & Green neighbourhood restaurant - albeit under a new name - as well as a pub in Gloucestershire this spring.

Sheridan, who runs fine dining restaurant About 8 in Birmingham city centre, along with business partner Sam Morgan, is taking on The Red Lion in Newent, Gloucestershire. He will reopen it as The Wye Inn, which will be run as a traditional pub that will feature a relaxed outdoor space.

Next door to the pub, the pair will open Severn & Wye, a new iteration of the Black & Green concept that opened in Barnt Green near Birmingham in 2022.

Severn & Wye will serve a £65 taster menu, similar in style to that offered at Black & Green.

“We are expanding considerably in 2023 and I can’t wait to bring our food to Gloucestershire,” says Sheridan.

“We’ve got the right team on board and so the time is right to launch a second offering like that of Black & Green. It’ll be beside a beautiful, country pub, deep in the heart of rural Gloucestershire,” adds Morgan.

“People will be able to eat and drink well at the pub, with a simple menu, or, if they want to enjoy something a little special, they can pop next door to the aptly named Severn & Wye, which will be adjacent to the pub.”
