Neapolitan brand 081 Pizzeria is to put down permanent roots in London's Peckham next month with its first dine-in restaurant.

The 20 cover site will serve a selection of Napoli-inspired tapas dishes and hand-crafted Neapolitan pizzas made using 72-hour fermented dough.

081 Pizzeria was founded in 2021 by Andrea Asciuti, who previously helped launch highly-rated Streatham pizzeria Bravi Ragazzi.

Having started out life operating out of a pop up kitchen in street food hub Peckham Levels, the brand has subsequently gone on to operate pub residencies at The Colonel Fawcett in Camden, and The Smugglers Tavern in Fitzrovia.

Asciuti has previously described 018 Pizzeria as taking ‘a fresh and modern approach to traditional Neapolitan pizza with an urban and artistic spin'.

The Peckham restaurant will feature a broader menu that will include new small plate options such as crocche’ - croquettes filled with mozzarella, pecorino, parmesan, parsley, salt and pepper; and deep fried aubergine balls served with pesto and pecorino fondue.

New pizza options will include black truffle and honey, which will be available alongside 'signature' options like the Napoli 'RMX’ with San Marzano tomato, burrata, anchovies, olives and capers.

For the first time, 081 Pizzeria will also be offering an extensive drinks list that includes wines with heritage across various regions in Italy; draught Moretti; and cocktails such as negroni and Aperol spritz.

“It’s been a tough journey since setting up my own pizzeria; firstly, launching in the midst of a pandemic and then facing a number of challenges in the current economic climate which has meant that product margins have dropped, energy costs have gone up and staff have been difficult to retain,” says Asciuti.

“Despite all of this, I am incredibly excited about opening our first bricks and mortar site in the place where it all began in Peckham. Pizza is a real life passion for me and my team, so this is a huge milestone for us. We look forward to sharing the unique pizza culture from Naples with Londoners on a bigger scale.”
