Housed in a standalone warehouse under the railway tracks in the financial district's North Dock, Blacklock's latest site will hold 120 covers across a 4,000sq ft space and include a 10 metre bar and outdoor terrace.
Known for its hearty portions and good value chops and meat dishes, Blacklock was founded by Gordon Ker and launched its first site on Great Windmill Street in Soho in 2015.
The group has grown steadily since then with sites in the City, Shoreditch and Covent Garden opening in 2017, 2018 and 2022, respectively.
”We’re very excited to be bringing Blacklock to Canary Wharf,” says Ker.
”We’ve loved this part of town for a long time with its links to Billingsgate, and the old docklands, so when we were asked our thoughts on an old warehouse under the railway tracks, we knew it was the perfect home for Blacklock.”
The Canary Wharf restaurant will feature several new dishes as well as Blacklock’s first ever bar food menu, which will include snack plates like pig’s head nuggets; and lamb scratchings.
”We can‘t wait to sink our teeth into it, creating many new opportunities for our team and something cool and unique for those who live, work and visit the area,” adds Ker.
Blacklock is also in the process of trying to achieve B Corp status.
Certified B Corporations are for-profit companies that use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
Assessment criteria for B Corp status includes the measure of a company’s performance in five categories: governance, workers, customers, community and the environment, and is one of the only certifications that is not for a product or a service but for the whole business.
