The new restaurant is being designed by studio Atelier Wren and will join the Buckingham Gate hotel’s Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Quilon.
The design will feature a marble floor and marble topped tables and emerald and crimson seating. It will also have numerous items of porcelain placed throughout the dining room and on the walls to create a style reminiscent of the Ming dynasty.
The new restaurant will be the second House of Ming housed with in a Taj Hotel, joining its location in the Taj Mahal Hotel New Delhi.
While no menu has yet to be released for the St James’s House of Ming, it is likely to follow a similar style to that at the New Delhi restaurant, which serves a range of authentic dishes from the Sichuan, Cantonese and Hunan cuisine.
Dishes include an extensive range of dim sum, seafood dishes, roast and fried poultry, meat and tofu; as well as selection of rice and noodle and vegetable dishes, with menu items such as black pepper lobster; silken tofu, pak choi and asparagus; Sichuan wild pepper rubbed chicken; and double cooked star anise lamb.
