Neighbourhood-style pizzeria Base Face Pizza is to open its second London site next week, in Barnes.

The restaurant will sit alongside Base Face Pizza's original site in Hammersmith, which launched back in 2021

Base Face Pizza was originally launched in lockdown as a charitable fundraiser by Tim Thornton, a trained jazz musician who lost his income due to the pandemic and so pivoted to delivering pizzas across Chiswick and Hammersmith with the help of his wife.

Thornton uses a pizza base created to have a very low GI that's made with a mix of 00 flour blended and tritordeum flour (a grain bred from wild barley and durum wheat), and proved for 48 hours.

The menu features toppings including the 'Truffle Shuffle' with mushroom and truffle crema, mixed wild mushrooms, mozzarella, parmesan and olive oil; the 'Sergeant Pepper' featuring a burnt green pepper crema, mushrooms, olives, red onion, tomato and basil; and the 'Cheeky Pineapple' with pineapple jam, pepperoni, jalapeños, mozzarella, tomato and basil.

Other options include a clotted cream tiramisu dessert; and a range of crust dips including garlic butter, and a balsamic aioli.

Base Face Pizza Barnes will open on 17 January.
