The ‘world’s first donutelier’ has opened in central London in celebration of the fried dough delicacy.

Donutelier by Roladin has opened on London’s Charing Cross Road serving a range of luxury donuts that include varieties such as chocolate pretzels; vanilla cookie cream; pink royal; pistachio; dulcey peanut caramel; and passion coconut.

The store, which launched in late December, is the first UK site for Israeli bakery and cafe group Roladin. As well as donuts it sells a range of patisserie, including croissants, cruffins and cookies.

“We are excited to bring some of the most innovative and luxurious doughnuts the world has ever seen to London,” says Arik Waiss, CEO and partner at Donutelier by Roladin.

“For the first time we are launching Roladin in the UK with a brand new store, debuting our signature doughnuts which will be freshly prepared on site. The store will be a new experience for Londoners and for this reason we are very excited for the opening this winter.”

The future's donut-shaped

The donut renaissance over the past few years is showing little signs of slowing with a flurry of activity in recent months.

Leeds-based doughnut brand Doh'hut will open in the capital in Exmouth Market later this year, with plans to open up to five sites in the next couple of years.

Gourmet doughnut brand Longboys, launched by top pastry chefs Graham Hornigold and Heather Kaniuk, recently opened a flagship site in Kings Cross in the space that was formerly Le Café Alain Ducasse.
