Returning to Kingly Court, where Khan first launched Darjeeling Express as a permanent venture back in 2017, the new restaurant will open on the second floor of the three-storey food court on 23 January.
It comes after Khan closed the second incarnation of Darjeeling Express, located in Covent Garden, last summer. At the time she said the move would allow her all-female kitchen team to be more visible to customers.
The latest iteration of Darjeeling Express will be open Monday to Saturday every week for lunch and dinner. The lunch menu will feature a selection of small and large sharing plates. Dinner, meanwhile, will focus on a set Royal Thali menu priced at £65 per person, which will include Khan's signature Bengali goat curry, kosha mangsho.
Announcing her plans to return to Kingly Court on Instagram late last year, Khan said: "We are returning to our spiritual home - and in a bigger space! This was where we began our journey five years ago - an #AllFemaleKitchen serving the food of our families. It is a joyous #Homecoming!”
The original Darjeeling Express opened on the top floor of Kingly Court in 2017 following a popular pop-up residency at London pub The Sun & 13 Cantons.
It relocated to Garrick Street in Covent Garden during the pandemic.
Since closing the Covent Garden restaurant, Khan has taken Darjeeling Express back to its pop-up roots with a residency at Kensington-based pub The Permbroke.
