Nikkei restaurant Nakanojo is to open its second London site early next year on Thayer Street in Marylebone.

Sitting alongside the group’s inaugural site on King’s Road, which launched in the summer of 2021, Nakanojo Marylebone will mark the start of the group’s expansion plans with further restaurants planned in the capital next year.

Nakanojo is led by founder Josh Ahmet, a successful property developer and martial artist who trained as a Shaolin Warrior Monk from the Shaolin Temple in China.

The 2,000sq ft Marylebone restaurant will cater for up to 100 covers across two floors and the interiors will feature Nakanajo’s ‘signature’ mural and trademark cherry blossom tree as part of its design.

Nakanojo takes its namesake from a small town in Japan and offers a wide selection of Nikkei-inspired dishes (a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine) including sushi, ceviche and tacos.

Hero dishes to feature on the sharing plates menu include chicken kara-age coated in chipotle mayonnaise and red onion; the ‘taco fiesta’, which offers a range of fillings including pulled pork pibil, wagyu carne asada, salmon ceviche, and Portobello mushroom tataki; and sea bass ceviche with coconut leche de tigre, red onion, mango salsa and canchas.

Drinks include a selection of ‘signature’ Bobas cocktails, as well as pisco sours and a range of sake.
