AngloThai's John and Desiree Chantarasak are to open their first permanent restaurant next year having secured a site in London's Fitzrovia.

Backer MJMK. the London-based group of restaurants and bars that are behind the likes of Casa do Frango, La Rampa, and Santiago Lastra's KOL, confirmed on Instagram that the pair's debut restaurant would open next summer, but didn't confirm its exact location.

However, BigHospitality understands that the Chantarasaks have taken a site on Eastcastle Street.

AngloThai has previously run a number of high profile residencies across London in venues including The Dairy and Newcomer Wines, with a permanent restaurant first mooted more than a year ago

While details remain thin on the ground, it is expected that the food will be less fiery and slightly more delicate than the previous pop-ups with a changing chalkboard of dishes served alongside a more regular menu.

John has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting Thai chefs, with time spent in kitchens across London, Europe, North America and Asia, including Som Saa, and David Thompson’s Nahm.

His half British and half Thai heritage has 'inspired a dedication to celebrate both the cooking techniques, flavours and culture of Thailand, with the seasonality of produce from the British Isles'.

Desiree will oversee the front of house operations and will also be responsible for the wine list at AngloThai. It is believed John and Desiree’s passion for low-intervention, natural wines, will be evident in the drinks offering of the restaurant, with a focus on small-batch producers.
