Chef Jimmy Lee will open a second Glasgow site of his expanding Cantonese street food business.

Southside will open on 13 November on Kilmarnock Road on the former McFly's Chicken site in the city and will be the chef and restaurateur’s third permanent venue, joining his sites in Glasgow's West End and in Edinburgh’s St James Quarter.

The 60-cover restaurant will serve ‘reimagined and remastered’ Cantonese street food as well as Chinese classics and fusion dishes that ‘combine traditional Hong Kong street food with a strong dose of modern Scottish attitude’.

Menu items will include Peking ribs; chicken satay with spicy dip, katsu chicken, and pulled duck baos as well as the signatures from the Salt & Chilli menu. Small bites will be available from £5 alongside larger dishes that including katsu chicken curry and Macau beef curry.

"Shawlands was recently named as one the coolest neighbourhoods in the world and I'm delighted that we're able to expand our portfolio to Glasgow' Southside,” says Lee.

“I live in the area so it's a neighbourhood that my family and I know well - buzzing with activity and a multicultural community at its heart. With the opening of Salt and Chilli Oriental Southside this November, I hope to add something new to the incredible amount of food and entertainment options the area has to offer residents and visitors alike."
