Mark Greenaway at the Haweswater Hotel and Brasserie 37 will open in the art deco country house hotel in January 2023.
Mark Greenaway at the Haweswater Hotel will be a fine dining restaurant that will serve both tasting and al a carte menus that continues the Scottish chef’s focus on using seasonal, local produce. Dishes will include some of his signature creations, including BBQ shiitake mushrooms on toast; 11-hour slow roast pork belly; and sticky toffee pudding soufflé.
Brasserie 37, named after the year the hotel was completed, will be a more informal dining room with log fires and an art deco bar.
“Being part of such a historic building in the inspirational and magnificent Lake District is a chef’s dream. A stunning local larder of world class ingredients, with a sense of potential and a true home from home feel in a picturesque location,” says Greenaway.
“Our guests will experience some new and unique dishes in serene and majestic yet snug surroundings. Relaxing and accessible to all, an experience we hope they will wish to return for time and again. Our focus will be on delighting our diners with memories to cherish, a journey with splendid food, drink and hospitality in a friendly and graceful fashion.
"Being given the opportunity to head up two restaurants within the same building is a great opportunity and offers the guests alternative options for dining within the hotel”.
Greenaway currently runs two restaurants, Grazing by Mark Greenaway in Edinburgh, and Pivot British Bar & Bistro in Covent Garden.
“The Haweswater is unique and attracts people from far and wide,” says hotel owner Stephen O’Sullivan. “Recognising the need to offer diners something truly special to match the surroundings, we see this as an exciting new chapter for the hotel and very much look forward to welcoming Mark to the team.”
Haweswater Hotel is located besides the lake at the 100-square mile Haweswater nature reserve in the Lake District.
