Former Ivy Asia COO Jean-Baptiste Requien has been named chief operating officer of London-based Mexican Japanese restaurant Los Mochis.

His appointment, announced by group founder Markus Thesleff, comes as the business prepares for further expansion in the capital.

Requien will work in tandem with Thesleff and the existing team to oversee and manage overall operations for all of the group's current and future brands to 'ensure quality and brand standards remain during this period of growth'.

In particular, he will oversee operations of Los Mochis' flagship restaurant in Notting Hill, as well as new openings Viajante87, also in Notting Hill; and Los Mochis at 100 Liverpool Street

Prior to his role at the Richard Caring-backed Ivy Asia, Requien spent four years as director of operations at D&D London. Before that, he spent eight years working alongside Gordon Ramsay as his right-hand man in the UK and USA.

"[Requien] will apply his strategic insight and ability to simplify and retain brand strategies to drive long-term sustainable growth of key channels for the business," Los Mochis said in a statement.

Los Mochis, which opened in 2021, defines its concept as Baja Nihon - 'championing the vibrancy, passion and heat of Mexico whilst celebrating the cool elegance and precision of Japan'.
