The Beckford Group to open The Great Arch at Fonthill
Located a few minutes’ drive from The Beckford Arms it sits at the entrance to the original Fonthill Estate in Wiltshire in The Victory Arch, which was built in 1755 to act as a grand arrival to the estate. The Arch is Grade 1 listed for its historical importance and has been creatively restored as a place to stay by the Beckford team.
The building is arranged over three floors with a boot room, pantry, kitchen, sitting room and shower room on the ground floor and a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the first floor. The top floor has bespoke designed bunk beds with all floors connected by a spiral stone staircase.
“The Arch is an extraordinary piece of architecture, positioned at the entrance to one of the great British country estates. We wanted to create a beautiful place to stay but also to design it with all the modern touches that a guest might need. We’re really proud of this project and cannot wait for people to enjoy memorable stays here,” says co-founder Charlie Luxton.
The Beckford Group is a collection of hospitality businesses in the Southwest of England. Its portfolio includes with four inns with rooms - The Beckford Arms, The Bath Arms, The Lord Poulett Arms, and The Talbot - as well as two bottle shops. A further restaurant is due to launch in Bath.
