A pizzeria that opened last year amid the Covid-19 pandemic is doubling up with its second venue in the capital.

Neapolitan brand 081 Pizzeria is taking residency at  Fitzrovia-based gastropub The Smugglers Tavern from 8 October following on from the success of its debit site at Peckham Levels.
The new dining room, located upstairs in the Warren Street-baserd pub, will have space for 40 covers.
Founded by Andrea Ascuiti, also a  co-founder of Streatham pizzeria Bravi Ragazzi, 081 Pizzeria describes itself as taking ‘a fresh and modern approach to traditional Neapolitan pizza with an urban and artistic spin’. The menu will feature around 16 pizzas that will include a classic margherita; truffle mushrooms; diavola; and maradona as well as a range of ‘Neapolitan tapas’ such as deep-fried Italian mac n cheese with minced meat; and arancina.
“Over the last decade, London has seen a colossal surge in pizzerias and become somewhat saturated with many different choices. However at 081 Pizzeria, we believe in producing great pizzas which are rich in culture and heritage to give people a real sense of story and passion behind the dish,” says Ascuiti.
“Growing up in Naples, pizza was like a spiritual mindset, and 081 was created with the vision to reimagine the pizza culture in the Capital inspired by the legendary Naples. We love the traditional Neapolitan taste but by injecting our own edge and creativity, we are giving people a unique dining experience.”
