Incorporating The Restaurant Show as well as technology-focused event Hostech, Catering Equipment Expo, and Low 2 No Bev, the three-day expo ran from 26-28 September and featured a large selection of new and innovative products as well as lively discussions from inspiring leaders on The Stage and at The Workshop.
Highlights of this year’s show included an interview with Gareth Ward, chef-patron at Ynyshir in Wales, currently ranked the Best Restaurant in the UK; Simon Heppner, founder of Net Zero Now on a simple, credible and affordable route to net zero for businesses; and Richard Morris, CEO of Tortilla on winning the burrito war on these shores.
Attendees were also introduced to kokumi, known as the ‘sixth taste’ (after sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami) with Danny Butt, director of Food Innovation Solutions, and Professor Charles Spence, professor of experimental psychology at the University of Oxford part of a panel discussing what it is, how to source and create it, and how restaurants can make the most of it on their menus.
As well as numerous discussions and insight panels, the show was a platform for the best products, services, and innovations in the market to help hospitality businesses thrive.
The Big Hospitality Expo will return next year to London’s Olympia from 2-4 October, so put the date in your diary.
