Arya Razi has teamed up with Humzah Butt to launch a second Mexican restaurant in the capital.

On Euston Square in the space that was once home to VQ, MXO offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a late-night bar serving agave-based cocktails and drinks.

Overseeing the menu is head chef Santiago Gomez Marrero, who previously worked under Eduardo 'Lalo' García of highly-rated Mexico City restaurant Pujol and Adriana Cavita when she was cooking at Notting Hill’s Peyotito London as well as a stint at Bodega Negra.

Located right next to Euston Station, the restaurant serves Mexican favourites such as tacos, tostadas and chicken al pastor, as well as lamb shank barbecoa, and brisket en adobo.

Ingredients will be sourced from a mixture of British and specialist Mexican suppliers.

The agave bar offers a wide range of Tequila and Mezcal-based cocktails, as well as wines from Mexico and South America.

As well as a 50-seater restaurant, MXO will also be launching two private dining rooms hosting up to 10 and 12 people.

MXO follows the success of Razi’s Caldera Mexican restaurant in Hackney, which opened in 2019.

“I’m really pleased to be opening MXO. Not only are we excited about the food, which will offer guests something familiar and different all at once, but we can’t wait to showcase our extensive selection of agave-based signature mezcal and tequila based cocktails,” he says.
