Alex Bond smashes crowdfund target for fried chicken restaurant Mollis
Bond, the chef-patron at the Michelin starred Alchemilla in Nottingham, launched the crowdfund on Indiegogo on 17 September with an aim of raising the money within 14 days, but yesterday (25 September) he confirmed that the campaign had hit its target.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have made our target," Bond wrote on Instagram.
"We cannot thank you enough. The support we received has been mind blowing."
At the time of writing, Bond had raised £110,525 from 464 backers, with six days left for the crowdfund to run.
Bond announced his plans to launch a crowdfund earlier this month. Originally it was set to launch on Kickstarter on 1 October, but the campaign subsequently went live early after moving over to Indiegogo.
The money raised will be used to realise Bond’s ambitions of opening Mollis, which will serve fried chicken, soft serve ice cream using foraged ingredients and cocktails, accompanied by a soundtrack of hip hop, rap and garage.
Bond, who purchased the Chinese restaurant next door to Alchemilla to open Mollis, previously said that increased costs, including having to fully repair the roof, meant that the project could not be finished without additional funds.
Rewards available for the crowdfund include collaboration dinners with Bond and ‘some of Britain’s most talented Michelin starred chefs’, as well as access to the restaurant’s soft opening, and cocktail masterclasses.
