Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG) is set to open its first Slim Chickens restaurant under a new partnership with Tesco Extra this month, in the supermarket giant's Redditch superstore.

The new 68-cover restaurant designed by AW Architectural Design will feature exposed brick, industrial beams and the brand’s red colourway.

It comes after the American-founded fast casual brand, which majors in buttermilk-marinated, hand-breaded chicken tenders, opened four sites simultaneously last month on 4 July to mark US Independence Day.

As well as in-restaurant dining, the Redditch restaurant will offer click and collect, takeaway and delivery via Deliveroo, UberEats and Just Eat. Diners will also be able to download the Slim Chickens app to take advantage of an opening offer as well as on-going reward and privileges.

“Slim Chickens is creating local communities of chicken lovers across the country and our customers tell us they want one near them,” says Satnam Leihal, CEO at BRG.

“We have identified locations nationwide for the brand from which we can serve our fresh, cooked-to-order chicken and Tesco’s Redditch Extra is a great place to start to support these plans.”

Slim Chickens was founded by Tom Gordon and Greg Smart in 2003 and currently operates more than 100 restaurants in the US.

The first UK Slim Chickens opened in 2018 in London’s Marylebone and the brand has rapidly grown to 27 sites in the UK including Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol and Birmingham as well as multiple London locations.
