Plant-based restaurant group Oowee is heading to Brighton for the opening of its fifth bricks and mortar venue.

The group will open a restaurant on Brighton’s Market Street on 27 August serving its plant-based menu of burgers, chick’n, loaded fries, sides, and shakes. It follows a successful pop-up by the company in the city in 2021.

The new 40-cover restaurant will join its two existing sites in Bristol as well as its newest restaurants in Dalston and Brixton, which opened in 2020.

“Our mission at Oowee is to lead the way with the future of fast food. The quality of vegan food being developed now is mind blowingly good, and we aim to be at the forefront of that, being enjoyed by meat eaters just as much as vegans, says co-founder Charlie Watson.

“After a successful pop up in Brighton last year, we’re super excited to be back with our new design flagship store this summer. We have a fantastic position in the heart of the lanes, and can't wait for the community to try our food.”

Oowee initially started out as a virtual restaurant under the name Oowee Diner on the Bristol-based Deliveroo Editions site. Its success to the launch of Oowee Vegan, with it being named Restaurant of the Year at Deliveroo’s first Restaurant Awards in 2019.

“With a huge uptake in veganism and flexitarianism, eating less meat and a focus on the environment over the last few years, now is the perfect time to be making meat-free food something that is accessible, interesting and most importantly delicious,” adds Watson.

“We've had amazing success in our hometown of Bristol, which has allowed us to expand to London and now Brighton, as well as more to come across the UK in the near future”.

Earlier this week plant-based restaurant group Clean Kitchen Club announced that it would be opening a restaurant in Brighton this year as well as sites in the capital in Soho and Battersea.
