The team behind London restaurants Bright and P.Franco and Noble Fine Liquor have announced that they are closing their neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar Peg in Hackney.

The group says it has made the decision to close Peg as 'we focus our efforts on consolidating across the board', and that a lack of staff had been part of the problem.

It adds that it doesn’t know if it will ever reopen again.

A post on Instagram says: “And here we are again… It’s been a tricky past couple of years to say the least. When we were forced to close at the beginning of Covid we had no idea what the future had in store for us... However we’re seemingly back here again and put simply, the strains on staffing at this current point are such that something has to give.

“We definitely want to continue but unfortunately closure is a requirement for us to strengthen what we have elsewhere and really push to realise the visions that we’ve always had. Good food, good wine and good times.

“We want to thank everyone who’s attended Peg, especially over the past year and of course our brilliant staff past and present.”

Peg will be open for the rest of this week before it closes and the group says that there are a few plans to continue the use of the space “for some special events with some special friends.
