Incipio Group is to launch a huge 7,000 sq ft venue at The Royal Exchange in the City of London in October.

Nestled underground inside the historic vaults of The Royal Exchange, The Libertine will comprise a large destination bar, casual drinking and dining spaces, two private dining rooms and a main restaurant.

Secured by Incipio back in 2019, The Libertine will represent the group's first foray into the City and also signifies a ‘full circle’ moment for CEO Ed Devenport (pictured), who started his career a stone's throw away from The Royal Exchange.

Steeped in history, The Royal Exchange was opened by Queen Elizabeth 1st in 1571, who awarded it the ‘Royal’ title and granted it a licence to sell alcohol and expensive goods.

Incipio says The Libertine concept has been directed by extensive research into the history and stories of the Square Mile.

"The Libertine will showcase Incipio's unwavering commitment to transforming unused, dormant spaces and turning them into big, elevated consumer lifestyle concepts," reads the press materials.

Having previously operated a selection of outdoor food and drinks venues in the capital including Pergola Paddington, The Prince in Hammersmith and Lost in Brixton, Incipio launched its first bricks and mortar site, Pergola on the Wharf, in June last year.

It followed this with a second permanent site in January this year at White City Place called Dear Grace.

The Libertine will be Incipio's seventh venue in total.
