The restaurant will occupy a 9,500sq ft, multi-level space in the 60,000sq ft One Berkeley Square development, with its location on Dover Street. It will join the new 180-room 1 Hotel Mayfair at the development.
The restaurant will house a fish market complete with seafood bar, a cocktail bar and wine room as well as a private members club.
Dishes on its current menus include a rage of salads and mezze, tuna carpaccio, Beluga and Oscietra caviar, grilled fish dishes and moussaka.
Named after the Greek goddess of earth, Gaia is described as a ‘refined taverna’ serving modern Greek food and was launched as a collaboration between restaurateur Evgeny Kuzin and chef Izu Ani.
The new restaurant is one of a number of high-end Greek restaurants set to open in Mayfair in the coming year. It is understood that Caprice Restaurants will open Greek restaurant Bacchanalia in a former Porsche showroom on the edge of Berkeley Square next year.
