Glasgow-based chef Jimmy Lee has chosen his hometown of Hamilton as the third location for his grab-and-go Hong Kong Street Food brand Salt and Chill Oriental.

Opened earlier this week, the new location is on the former Peters Restaurant site on 17 Gateside Street and joins sites in Glasgow’s West End and a further site within Bonnie and Wild Marketplace in Edinburgh’s St James Quarter.

The concept serves Cantonese street food that has been ‘reimagined, remastered, and given a playful twist’ as well as Chinese classics and fusion dishes ‘that combine traditional Hong Kong street food with a strong dose of modern Scottish attitude’.

Dishes include tangy Peking ribs; chicken satay with spicy dip; katsu chicken bao; pulled aromatic duck; and macau beef curry.

Salt & Chilli Oriental Hamilton is open weekly for collection and delivery Monday to Sunday from 3pm to 9pm.

“Hamilton is my hometown; I was born and raised here, attended St Johns and Hamilton Grammar School, so it’s extra special for me to open my third location there,” says Lee.

“Our menu features delicious Hong Kong-style street snacks as well as comforting British-Cantonese cuisines that we all love and adore”.

Lee is best known for his Glasgow Cantonese restaurant Lychee Oriental and his TV work, which includes BBC2’s Great British Menu and Channel 4’s My Kitchen Rules.
