The Brixton-based restaurateurs behind Chip Shop are to launch a New York-style restaurant and bar concept in London Bridge, on the site previously occupied by Hixter Bankside.

Opening its doors on Thursday (31 March), Brix will draw inspiration from Manhattan’s Meatpacking District and Brooklyn’s all-day dining scene.

Led by Michael Lythgoe and Cidalia Rodrigues, who also previously operated the now-closed Brixton Village Grill, the 8,500 sq ft Brix site will feature a dining hall, lounge bar, private dining rooms and a late-night basement bar.

The pair have teamed up with former Soho House chef Radek Nitkowski for the menu, which will feature a broad selection of 'gourmet street food' dishes served alongside craft beers, cocktails and an extensive wine list.

Small plate options include oxtail doughnuts with Keen's cheddar and sweet chilli jam, and lobster and Monterey Jack mac n cheese; while larger dishes include the 'Badboi' fried chicken burger with bacon, jerk mayonnaise, pickles and lettuce, and a surf ‘n’ turf wioth lobster and 45-day aged black angus ribeye steak.

A brunch menu will also be served at weekends, with roast dinners available on Sunday.

Small plates start from £5 each, with larger dishes primarily ranging from £12.50 to £18.

As well as offering food and drink, Brix will also function as an exhibition space displaying a revolving collection of street art, and play host to album launches, film Screenings, weekly DJ sets and live events.

“We’re thrilled to bring this concept to central London,” says Lythgoe.

“There’s a real appetite for merging the arts with a culinary experience. And while we’ve drawn our inspiration from New York, we want Brix to feel like an amalgamation of two of the world’s most trend-setting urban hubs.”
