Black Bear Burger will open its third London venue later this month, at Market Halls Cargo Canary Wharf.

Opening on 31 March the burger brand will join traders including Gopal’s Corner [Roti King], DF Tacos, Baoziinn, Le Bab, Pasta Evangelists and Inamo Sukoshi at the 20,000 sq ft venue.

Black Bear Burger was started by husband and wife team Liz and Stew Down as a food stall in Broadway Market and went on to do residencies at Street Feast and Kerb. In 2016 the couple went full-time with their first permanent location at Boxpark Shoreditch and later opened a sit-down restaurant in Brixton Village in 2019.

Menu items include the signature Black Bear burger made with beef, cheese, bacon, onion jam, and garlic mayo; and the brisket made with beef, cheese, 12-hour beer braised brisket, pink pickled onions, and garlic mayo; as well as loaded fries with steak rub, cheese sauce and bacon crumb

“We’re super excited to be returning to Canary Wharf - it feels a bit full circle for me as before we started Black Bear I used to work right here in the Wharf,” says Stew Down.

“The Cargo site is just what Canary Wharf needs and we can’t wait to start slinging some burgers!”

Market Halls Cargo Canary Wharf is a the most recent development for the Market Halls brand since closing its debut Fulham venue earlier this year. Its also operates a venue in Victoria and a site just off Oxford Street that finally reopened on 10 March having been closed since the beginning of the pandemic.
