London’s burgeoning Korean hot dog scene is getting a new player in the form of Myungrang Hot Dog.

The international specialty Korean hot dog brand will make its UK debut this year with a site within Islington’s newly refurbished Angel Central later this year.

The new 2,172sq ft restaurant will be located on the ground floor of Angel Central next to the second site of Pelicana, the South Korean fried chicken concept that is Myungrang Hot Dog’s sister brand.

“Our first entrance into the UK market for our Myungrang Hot Dog concept at Angel Central is extremely exciting and only adds to the Pelicana forthcoming opening too,” says Mr Kim, owner of Myungrang Hot Dog and Pelicana.

“This location is the perfect site to test out both concepts within a new UK market given its ambiance, connectivity within London and unique offering. We are looking forward to witnessing the excitement around our launch here.”

Launched in Korea in 2016 by Sangwoo Kim, Myungrang Hot Dog operate 730 stores internationally in countries including the Philippines, Singapore, Mexico, Indonesia and Taiwan. The London restaurant will serve a menu that will include a mozzarella hot dog dipped in crispy batter; a rice cake hot dog; and a cheddar cheese hot dog.

Korean corn dogs have soared in popularity in the capital thanks to brands such as Uh K-Dogs N Juicy in Camden, Korean Dinner Party in Soho, and Bunsik in Charing Cross, which has become a hit on social media. Bunsik will soon open a second restaurant on London’s Embankment.

Myungrang Hot Dog and Pelicana  will join café and coffee roasters Saint Espresso, which recently secured its second Islington location at Angel Central, and Birdies, the street food and crazy golf experience, which is set to open in summer 2022.
