Street food brand Zaap Thai is to launch its sixth restaurant this spring having secured a site in Sheffield.

The new location on Eccleshall Road will join Zaap Thai's northern-based portfolio of sites in Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, York and Headingley.

Zaap serves an 'affordably-priced' menu of more than 80 dishes with plant-based and vegan options available, alongside a wide-ranging drinks offering.

Thai street food classics such as pad Thai feature; as do Thai-inspired bao buns. Other dishes include som tum Thai spicy papaya salad; and hoy tod crispy mussel pancake.

Similarly to the brand's other locations, the Sheffield restaurant's interior will pay homage to the Thailand capital of Bangkok, with 'Thai-inspired graffiti', tuk tuk seating booths, neon lighting, and an open kitchen lined with Thai hawker carts.

Zaap Thai is part of the wider Sukho Group, which was founded by chef and restaurateur Yupha 'Ban' Kaewkraikhot in 2002 and currently operates a total of eight restaurants including the five-strong Zaap brand.

“We’ve been looking for a location in Sheffield for a number of years,” says Kaewkraikhot.

“It’s been at the top of our priority list and we’ve finally found a fantastic site on Ecclesall Road after years of searching.

“Sheffield is a fantastic city with a rich history and diverse population, and we believe a great fit for Zaap. The restaurant is currently undergoing a major fit out and will be unrecognisable when we come to open in spring.”

The first Zaap Thai opened in Leeds back in 2015.
