Red Lion Holdings has opened its fourth venue, an independent boutique coaching inn in Newbury, Berkshire.

The Hare & Hounds has opened after months of restoration of the 17th century Georgian building, which now features a traditional pub, dining room and 30-bed coaching inn.

The Barn dining room has been given a complete overhaul and serves a seasonal farm-to-table menu that includes dishes such as prawn cocktail, shaved fennel and pickled apple; chicken and ham pie with truffled mash potato and winter greens; and chestnut mushroom and winter truffle gnocchi.

The coaching inn's accommodation comprises 30 bedrooms named after the equestrian world and historic dignitaries.

The pub is the second new opening in a couple of months from Red Lion Holdings, the investment group led by Jason Myers and David Ramsey. The duo opened restaurant and pub with rooms Wild Thyme & Honey in December 2021 in Ampney Crucis in the Cotswolds.

Other venues in the group are The Cricketers on the Green in Pirbright and The Kings Arms in Egham.
