London-based group Market Halls will finally launch its new 20,000 sq ft location opposite Canary Wharf’s upcoming Crossrail station late next month.

Originally announced back in 2019, Market Halls Canary Wharf Cargo will feature operators that have already traded at the group’s other locations - including Gopal’s Corner [Roti King], DF Tacos and Baoziinn - as well as newcomers Le Bab, Pasta Evangelists and Inamo Sukoshi, with more to be announced closer to opening.

Market Halls currently operates a single location outside Victoria station, but its Market Halls Oxford Street will reopen on 10 March following ‘extensive refurbishment and changes to the site’.

The group's inaugural food market in Fulham closed permanently earlier this month, due to the pandemic.

On the new Canary Wharf site, Market Halls Founder Andy Lewis-Pratt said: “We couldn’t be more excited to be opening two Market Halls locations which will bring this concept to Londoners who might not previously have been able to visit the existing Victoria site.

“We’re looking forward to diversifying our offering to bring a tailored approach reflecting exactly what our communities want to see from us.

“These new openings have provided us with the perfect opportunity to expand our events programming and work with even more fantastic food and drinks vendors.”

In June last year Market Halls launched a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) proposal in a bid to secure its future following more than a year of closure. The move formed part of a financial restructuring programme funded by a new investor in the business, Gees Court Partners.
