As first revealed by MCA, BigHospitality's sister title, the company’s largest investor, Pembroke VCT, has confirmed that Begbies Traynor has been appointed to liquidate the business.
The group's sites in London St Pancras, Leeds Skelton Lake Services and Cobham are all understood to have closed; the latter two having only opened in September 2020 and October 2021, respectively.
A site at London Victoria’s Nova developement has already been closed for some time.
Pemboke VCT said the company has been badly affected by the drop-off of visits to travel hubs.
“After an extended period of difficult trading conditions for companies operating in travel hubs, Sourced Market has been placed into liquidation; with Begbies Traynor appointed,” a spokesperson told MCA.
The company, which was founded by Ben O’Brien, was led by former Bill’s and Polpo MD Scott Macdonald for more than two years up until October 2021.
Former Subway UK & Ireland CEO Collin Hughes led the brand on an interim basis for a few months before leaving in December.
A source close to the business said there were no currently plans from the investors or founders to resurrect Sourced Market in any shape or form.
