Taking to social media, Usher has announced that he intends to raise £2m selling shares in Elite Bistro via a crowdfund on fundraising platform Crowdcube, kicking off on 4 April.
The money raised, he says, will be used to strengthen the business, create a new brand within it and open three new sites.
In a separate tweet, Usher posted what appeared to be the logo and name for the first of these three new sites – a tapas restaurant called Joya Tapas - although no more details, including location, have yet to be revealed.
“I’m just a boy standing in front of 17 thousand Twitter friends asking them to like our new little restaurant,” he wrote on Twitter.
Earlier this year Usher tweeted that he was putting an offer in on a pub, which he said had been accepted in a tweet on 19 January.
Usher is no stranger to crowdfunding having used the practice to fund the majority of restaurants within the Elite Bistros portfolio, including Burnt Truffle in Heswall, Hispi in Didsbury, Wreckfish in Liverpool, Pinion in Prescot, and Kala in Manchester.
He also crowdfunded to raise money to launch Elite Bistro Events, the catering arm of the business that was founded out of lockdown following the popularity of the Elite Bistros at Home meal kits.
