Moor Hall in Lancashire and Pensons in Worcestershire are among nine new restaurants to be awarded a Michelin green star in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain & Ireland 2022.

Introduced in 2021, the Michelin green star highlights restaurants at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices.

According to Michelin, these restaurants 'offer dining experiences that combine culinary excellence with outstanding eco-friendly commitments – and are a source of inspiration both for keen foodies and the hospitality industry as a whole'.

Other new restaurants to receive a green star this year include Cal Byerley and Siân Buchan's Newcastle restaurant Pine, which also received its first Michelin star in this year's Guide; Mark McHugo's Welsh restaurant Chapters in Powys, which is also listed in the Guide for the first time; and Jan Ostle's Bristol restaurant, Wilsons.

Michelin begun awarding green stars to UK restaurants last year, having made it debut in the French version of the red book in 2020.

Restaurants to receive a green star last year include Simon Rogan's L'Enclume, which this year was awarded three Michelin stars, becoming one of only eight restaurants in the Guide for Great Britain & Ireland to hold the prestigious accolade.

In total, 31 restaurants hold a green star in this year's Guide. The only restaurant to lose its green star status is Chantelle Nicholson's sustainability-focused Covent Garden restaurant Tredwells, which closed last year.
